Please tell us a brief history about the company.
The well-known children’s brand Moulin Roty began its adventure 45 years ago, around a wind mill in a French hamlet called Moulin Roty. The story started in 1972 with a group of friends united around a joint life project combining work and community. The workshops were setup in a ruined mill they had bought, located in the center of the hamlet. It wasn’t yet toys that were made, but art and craft items, with the production of furniture, lamps and jewelry.
A product created in 1975 was to have a big impact on the Moulin Roty story: it was a car made from wood, foam and fabric. This rounded-shape car was presented at the Arts and Crafts Show in Paris and aroused the interest of several customers. It was our first product to be mass produced.
